The Best Form Of Death
The majority will always tell us that the best way to die is during sleep, but is it?
How do we know for certain that when we “die in our sleep”, we don’t wake up for a short moment from shock?
Suffocation and heart attacks are perfect examples. How can we not awake in sudden distress?
Dying in our sleep isn’t as great as it’s made up to be anymore when you think about it, but it’s definitely not the worst. I’d be afraid to die drowning, or suffocating.
Since I’m physically disabled, I suppose getting hit by a bus would be an option. I’d want it to hit my left side so if I don’t get killed, my right arm would still function. I’ve thought of biting my tongue and bleeding to death, but then I might end up with only half. I tried once to see if I could, but ended up with ugly bite marks instead!
A painless death is what every person in the right mind wants, and the only secure way is at the rooftop edge, gassed up with nitrous oxide…

Jigsaw trap. Wait.. no.. that would be the coolest form of death.
Okay well it is when you are really old and eventually develop a hole in your stomach. it is painless and it automatically makes you sleepy and poof you just die as your stomach contents spill out everywhere.
Best? I dunno, probably surrounded by loved ones, with time to say goodbye.
Worst? Raped to death by a burning gorilla with a razorblade.
falling quickly into lava...because at least I'd make an impression?
reading a good book and just finishing
after sex, die happpy.
DEATH... BY SNOO SNOO (sex.. for you non futurama people)
heart break would be the worst form of death :{ </3
doing what a person loves to do.
@ShimmerBodyCream - You are disgustingly hot, haha.
@lafemme_melissa - I'll never break your heart.
@Phenom66 - YES! Snoo Snoo
Ebola!
@dlmcniel - You. Have. Issues.
best way to do die is being shot in the head by a 45 cal bullet somewhere in the brain where you wont feel anything then the bullet igniting flamable drums of gas and explode. or crashing your into a pole at 100mph, fly out through the windshield and uncontrollably roll down the street at fast speeds toward a ledge then fall into a river.
Worst is when your somehow caught on fire and your trying to put out the flames and you see a puddle of liquid assuming its water but its actually gasoline the absolute worst part is if you saw a pull filled with liquid and you jump in it, at the last minute you realize your floating in guess what?!? GASOLINE!
@DearRicky - It's pretty much the coolest disease ever... liquefied guts? what could be cooler!
@dlmcniel - See the reaction in my profile picture? YOU did that, lol!
@DearRicky - I've never been more proud.
Best - and my personal way I want to go - is to die by getting sucked into a black hole (supermassive - not stellar. Physicists think that way you'd get to see what's in the black hole before you get spaghettified.)
Worst - Suffocation.
@dlmcniel - At least you made me cute.
Hmm. Something instant.
So quick that it will be painless.
When I die, I want to die quietly, like my Grandpa, in his sleep. Not screaming like the passengers in his car.
@Manstration - wow
wow, is this a serious post?
The worst is heartbreak...I know this first hand.
The most securely painless death is probably just ODing on morphine.
I'm going to hazard a guess that one of the worst deaths would include anal prolapse.
dying is just bad )<
Ricky, I am uncomfortable answering this for you... considering you bit your tongue to see if you could bleed to death...
It's a tough question. I was there when my father-in-law died of cancer. What he actually died of though is suffication. He couldn't get enough oxygen to sustain his life. By that point he was in the hospital on a lot of meds so he was comfortable and unaware he was dying. But the suffering that led to that peaceful death sucked.
Maybe not suffering over an extended time and then having a short period of actual pain close to death (i.e. a car accident) is better.
Well we all die and not many have a say in the style so I'm chosing to give it no more thought.
Dunno about the best form of dying...but I'm going to go out on a limb and say being forced through a fine mesh screen and sent back to your family in plastic Kroger grocery bags on Christmas morning might suck.
@more_distant_than_stars - Sort of. I think about death sometimes.
@jmallory - Lol, I really didn't. I wanted to see if I could take the pain, and failed.
@ItsWhatEyeKnow - It's something I've always thought about. I'm mainly only afraid of suffocating because I've experienced it first-hand.
@Phenom66 - LOVE IT!
i definitely agree.
I think to be burned at the stake like in the middle ages would be pretty horrible. Anything quick and relatively painless would be preferrable.
Did you mean worse death by suicide? or just deaths in general?
worse deaths in general..... cancer.
by suicide.. i would say drowning.
best.. hmm.. not sure, overdose?
dying for someone worth it
Blazing, last-stand gunfight would be the best way to go.
@Manstration - You would.
die in darling's arms
Or die in my sleep
DIE gentlely
...
zombies
The best way to die: someone pulled the plug on you while you're in a coma.
The worst: heart attack.
Dying like a hero would be the best. Saving a baby from a house on fire..
I fail to see the purpose of a painless death, I want my last moments to be full of feeling, be it blissful ecstasy or excruciating pain!
Give meaning to it? Well, it's the last experience you get out of life, it'd best be a memorable one.
But what's it going to be? Fucking awesome.
Falling from a high cliff or roof top but it would have to be high enough to give you a chance to feel like you are flying. You can either close your eyes and have the sensation of floating and listen to the wind rush by or you can watch as the ground rushes up to meet you... then... nothing.
OR! Dying in a epic sword fight!
I have 2 for the worst ways to die. Dying of heartbreak because really, try to imagine emotional pain so unbearable that it ends up killing you. This doesn't only happen to the elderly. I met a woman who's sister died a few weeks after her husband had been killed in a car crash. She was only 27. The only thing that had been wrong with her was that she was too depressed to function. Perhaps her system couldn't handle the amount of emotional distress. I never want that to happen to me. The 2nd way would be being burned alive slowly. Oh, and any form of torture used by the ancient Egyptians or in the middle ages.
As for the best way of dying, I really do not know. Certainly painless. I wouldn't mind if it was quick or lengthy as long as it was peaceful and painless. Perhaps long so that i'd have time to give some sort of final goodbye to my loved ones and think back on my life and such.
I'd say the best death is the one those old men have when they're orgasming and their heart goes insane... I'm pretty sure the mixed feeling of pleasure and the pain of death just tricks your mind out so you pass on convinced that it's all good.
Worst death... smothered in feces.
Best: Never die
Worst: Never die
Something quick
The best way to die for me, would be standing up for what i believe in, no matter how painful. I think if i knew i had made a difference, left an impact. THen i would be happy.
The worst way to die would be to die in the most exceedingly curel and longest takeing death ever....Heartbreak....and yes people have died of heartbreak. I think it would be incredibly painful and difficult to have
gotta go with Oding on morphine....worst would be fire.
Two of my biggest fears are drowning, or waking up in a casket and suffocating because I can't get out. My mom laughed when I told her about the casket thing...she said "Baby, if you weren't already dead, you'd be dead after they embalmed you." It makes me feel a little better.
I guess the best would be in a moment where something just happened and you're so incredibly happy that your bursting with joy then BAM, you're gone.
Another great way to go would be standing in front of a bullet or a bus protecting a loved one from death. In fact...that's how I want to go.
Why does it matter? I wonder... as long as whatever form of death will lead me to it... anyway...

I really liked the "deadbunny" picture. Very cute.
Id say the best would be in my home with my family surrounding me as i drift off to sleep. it would have to be sleep!!
The worst would have to be freezing to death. you are anticipating the end.
so sad!!
@Phenom66 - Snoo Snoo FTW!
@Phenom66 - Best AND worst death EVAR!
The best form of death is quick and painless, like jumping off a building (although the anticipation might be terrifying).
The worst form of death is slow and painful, like bleeding to death, or drowning, or being set on fire.
@Phenom66 - Futurama!! Win!! SNOO SNOO!! >=D
I hope you get your wish and get hit by a bus. Just kidding.
I want to die just after sex.
Drug or alcohol overdose....
Best is dying in my sleep. Worst would be torture.
I'd want to be killed by some creature like a moose....So I'd be THAT girl.
I suppose the best way to go would be slowly. It may sound crazy, but you know you're going, and you have time to say good bye. My grandfather died quickly. He entered the hospital for pneumonia and died from congestive heart failure a half hour after I left. I never got to say good bye to him or tell him how much I love him that one last time.
The worst way to go would be completely alone.
No one knows death till they meet it or faced it and live to tell. There is no best form of death. It's a natural accurance, part of the circle of life where all living things must come to an end.
This is not for any man to decide.
I'm sticking with that, because I can't make up my mind.
hey thanks for the invite.
my mind used to dose off into my thoughts a couple of years ago and more than on one occasion i found myself trying to cross the street and noticed a huge bus or semi coming right at me at the last second... it would suck to die that way.
also, i would have to disagree and say that dying in your sleep is probably the best way to go.
@ShimmerBodyCream - That sounds nice, as nice as death could sound. I'd like to die this way too.
@Wild_and_Wicked - So you don't have a preference between a slow and painful death or a quick and painless one?
ODing on anti depressants. A bit ironic, if you ask me. Haha
the best form of death would be the one that doesn't cause pain or the one that takes you away from the pain you are already suffering.
i have seen a lot of things on tv lately on death and health care lately. i kind of agreed with one thing i watched. they were talking about how people don't die the same way now that they use to. people hang on so long with life support systems that no way seems good to die anymore. that the mind usually leaves now before the body does. did that make sence?
thanks for the add
and ... I don't really think there is a "best way to die."
Dying is dying, and to me, that's the end.
I think crucifixion would be the worst. You die from suffocation, which many above have already said is the worst. However, on the way to suffocation death, there are things like the nails in your hands and feet, and they break your legs so you can't push yourself up to breathe better. It's incredibly painful, and slow. Also, before you're actually crucified, they would typically flog you... most people died of the flogging, and didn't even make it to the cross...
They had to invent a word to describe the pain of crucifixion.... excruciating.
Well I think it's best if you don't die alone & if you have others you love with you so you get to say goodbye
This is fucking stupid.
I want to be in bed with my "husband" about 67 years old and have a meteor crash into my house and just smash us both. I am pretty sure I wouldn't feel anything and really how could anyone be sad. Its a complete act of nature. If I knew someone that died like that I think I would laugh!
The worst would be burning alive!
A study of survivors of jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge found that the most common last thought going through their heads as they fell was "Darn, I wish I hadn't done that!"
if i die of a broken heart, i would come back as a ghost. i definitely will!
Have you all seen someone die?
I'm just asking.
Personally, I would be okay having a heart attack on the path I run by a river. I want just enough time to grab my chest and say "oh shit" before I'm gone. And I want to be at least fifteen minutes away from anyone who knows CPR.
