Should vanedave Apologize For Exploiting A Minor?
UPDATE (16:40): Dave sent me a message implying that he had nothing to do with this. I asked him to say it to me directly so I could take down this post. He has yet to respond.SassWithClass posted an entry (I Have Been Faking) that pokes fun at her false identity. In doing so, she exploits the daughter of ItsWhatEyeKnow by using her picture. This girl is only fourteen years old.
SassWithClass is also using this young victim’s picture for her profile.
However, according to the following log, SassWithClass, along with the_x_rankings, perez_on_x, contemporaryinsanity, and ladyscheme are all coming from the same computer (IP address) as one familiar member of Xanga:

To think I actually started to have a little respect for vanedave. He accuses me of being a racist for who knows why, but at least I don’t exploit minors for unnecessary attention (for the record, the baby pictures on my site were all of me), even cowardly. Sick.
And I’m not trying to start drama. This is Ricky defending his friend.
Reader, should other people’s children be off limits for exploitation on Xanga? Is vanedave out of line?
Should vanedave make a public apology to ItsWhatEyeKnow and her daughter?

Hello drama.
The size of the last question knocked me backward in my chair a la a vuvuzela emerging from my monitor and BRRAAAAAPPPPP'ing in my face.
But yeah, including another Xangan's children in petty Xanga drama is just low class and should be off limits. Unless that child is of age, on Xanga, and participating in the drama directly.

No one should post pictures of other peoples children or children that they aren't related to.

It's a complicated mix. Parents with accouts. Their kids with accounts. Sometimes with different networking sites. Links and cross-links. Uploading too much info and too many pix. Ability to track history; where another has been, like even in your own post
I used to come by here bc ur stuff used to entertain me and I thought you were alright. But lately ... I just don't know what to think anymore man. I've met Dave already and he's alright. I don't really believe that IP thing and i would definitely like to think dave doesn't exploit minors. he has too much respect for himself to do so. and what did he do exactly that was exploiting minors?
Pictures shouldn't be stolen, but if you want it prevented indefinitely, don't let you or your minor post pictures of themselves.

But isn't that tracker consequentially accusing RLT, TheBigShowAtUD, and You of using multiple identities? I'm still going to wait out on this... I just don't see him or them, or you having the time to do something like that. =

All other factors aside...people use pictures of children without their permission all the time. See: newspapers, camp photo albums, school play advertisements, relatives' slide shows. The picture of the girl above is not indecent. She's just goofing off in school. I think you're blowing this out of proportion. (Also ps...who's the OTHER kid in your logo pic? You can't be BOTH asian babies.

@noree_n - yeah I totally looked up my IP address and searched for myself on that site and sure enough I was there! kind of freaked me out, too hahaha
@splinter1591 - One would hope that a parent could post pics of their kids on Xanga without creeps copying them and using them for some twisted sick attempt at being funny.

@splinter1591 - I don't pick fights. On a few occasions I learn things and share what I know - like when I learned that the girl in the pics on that SassWithClass site was not really the person writing the posts. I stand behind my desicion to reveal that fact. It is not fair to the real girl in the pictures for Dave to try to make people believe the words he was writing were hers.
And furthermore only a mental creep would use pictures of children for their own sick attempt at humor!

Most people on xanga use fake pics... It's how it works here. Most people online have fake pics.
U posted pictures of ur daughter and ur friends, and that was a dumb choice... that plus poking at a troll (especially one who isn't anon) was like setting ur self up for failure

And there's no real way to verify who that picture really is without video evidence.
There seems to be a lot of dish it out but can't take it around here. When you deal so much in the drama, don't be shocked when it comes back at you.

There is a computer program that can change you IP adress. I forgot the name of it, but I used to use it a lot when downloading from rapidshare. Anyway I don't know what to think - all this information is confusing.
And using pics of minors is so not cool or legal.

@ricky: I think it depends on how you use the word "exploitation." I think exploitation is wrong but I don't think this example really qualified as exploitation- and as Adele pointed out, you don't seem to have an issue with it on your own site.

@DearRicky - but doesn't that mean the issue is about photo ownership and not who is in the photo? In which case the daughter has nothing to do with anything because that was probably the mother's picture?

I don't really have a comment on the picture thing at hand, but... Whatever that IP address thing is, it's awesome and scary. You will probably recognize my other account using that. However, heads up- if someone from my IP address starts visiting and commenting and his username starts with an M, it's my husband. I don't think he's commented yet, but I believe he has visited your site before. I pointed out the "feminism makes me sick" poop joke entry because I knew he'd get a kick out of it (especially the comments).
If you are sure that an offence has been committed, under the Criminal Code, then you should have immediately reported the situation to the relevant police force. Then, for pity sake, DON'T go sensationalizing the event, and the little girl's life, by posting tales like this on the internet. I think that you should be ashamed of yourself!
I am afraid to say too much, I always sorta liked Dave, and a move like this is so low that I half way wonder if his computer was hacked or someone faked an IP... it just don't seem like a Dave thing to do. That is so crossing the line.
He should also apologize to you Dear Ricky for what he said about you at the NYC Xanga meet video that's posted on Youtube.

I have a daughter, and there's no way I would want someone exploiting her for any reason. She's MY DAUGHTER. No one should be able to do that to anyone. It's just wrong. You could be endangering their lives.
