  • DearRicky's TV Debut!!!

    Hey everyone!

    So… my TV debut on Fairchild Television’s ‘Leisure Talk’ is OFFICIALLY ONLINE, with English subtitles!!!  I spent the past week writing them just for all you awesome people, so please enjoy!!!  In the 34-minute interview, I talk about my book, women, Duchenne advocacy, chicken wings, and much, much more!!!  And my amazing mom was there as well!!!  RICKY IS ON TV, haha!!! :D :D :D

  • Awesome!!!! So awesome that you were on TV, loved the interview, and the fact that you made subtitles for all of us English speaking folks is so thoughtful. 

    I think you should know that reading your views and thoughts about women has encouraged me to be the real me, without trying to live up to unrealistic expectations that are the face of the media. 
    By watching the interview I was so inspired by your mother to be a better mother myself... To have much more love and expectance when it comes to my daughter. So many parents treat their children as if they are not good enough, for some reason or another. It creates really dysfunctional adults! Anyway, sorry for ranting. 
    PS It seemed to me like the host wasn't sure how to take your humor! :) )

  • @C_L_O_G - Thanks for rec this. When I noticed that dear Ricky returned, I was going to ignore this.

    So yeah as a proud cantonese liberal, I sort of swallowed my pride and decided to view the stuff. Dear Ricky tried hard to walk the fine line of Racism and many people were tricked to be upset. Such is the life of xanga and the point that Ricky has to write one tap at a time makes it remarkable that he wants to get his message out.

    Dear Ricky's message is that he wants to love women and tries to encourage them in the way he feels is important.

    However the most important thing to me is that if anyone inspires to write and get out their message, you should have no excuse since Dear Ricky shames anyone too afraid to write a book.

  • I have only watched part one so far but I just wanted to say, you are so freaking awesome! I love everything you write. It is so wonderful to see you get recognition for all that you do. I can honestly say reading the things that you write about women makes me feel so much better about myself. You are inspiring and so caring like the host said so many times. You are a wonderful person and it seems like your mother is pretty amazing too. I hope that more wonderful things keep happening to you. Sometimes, when I feel really low, I can read your posts and they give me a whole new perspective. You sir are one of the very few people in the world that can have that effect on me. Keep doing what you do. I love you man :)

  • Like I said before, even though we had beef in the past. I am glad you are getting out there. Your dreams are being accomplished.

  • I listened to all three and enjoyed them thoroughly. I am blessed listening
    to how God has blessed you even at a time others would have been down for the
    count. Your story is one of a spirit that yearns to be heard. I plan to get your
    book when I get the money of which at this time unfortunately I have none. But
    God is restoring me also and when He does I will definitely get your book to
    read, for I know I will enjoy it just as I did listening to your interview.

  • @MartinTreehouse - Hey Meg, wow.  You seriously have no idea how much your comment means to me.  I've always wanted to encourage women and girls especially.  Knowing I can do that for you is rather incredible.  Thanks for making me smile!

    But everything I learned about respecting women comes from my dear mother.  She's my heroine, so I'm not surprised that she inspires you.  I know you're a wonderful mother though.  I can see you really love your little girl.  Just keep doing what you're doing, k? (:

  • I watched these yesterday but didn't have time to comment. Had to come back and tell you how much I loved seeing you talk about your life and your writing. It was great seeing your mom too - she must be so proud of you and what you've accomplished.

    Also, I love that this was all done in Chinese. Just sayin'.
